Gail Ragains

Gail Ragains approaches each painting as an open-ended improvisation. Beginning with the structure of the figure or landscape she intuitively reacts to the paint, stripping away the non-essentials to give a loose interpretation of form and movement.

Ragains has a keen connection to the human form. Having been a massage therapist for 25 years, a background in dance and athletics, and weekly drawing sessions with a live model, she draws on all life experiences to inform the handling of her subjects.

Gail Ragains has been painting since the early 1990’s and is represented in numerous galleries across US. and Canada. She lives and works in Redwood City, California.
