Kinuko Imai Hoffman

Kinuko Imai Hoffman hails from a family of architects and artists. After college, she lived in countries across Asia and studied traditional Chinese brush painting. Initially, she trained in the Song Dynasty style with Chinese brush painting Master Jan Ibin from Beijing, who awarded her with an honorary emblem of the Jan Ibin School, a rare gift of recognition and prestige. Later, she studied the freer abstract technique of the Chinese southern style with Master Ian Chung in Hong Kong.

In 2003, Kinuko moved to New York City where she attended the National Academy School of Fine Arts and explored still life and landscape painting in oil. During that time, she received numerous awards and merit scholarships. In 2009, Kinuko joined the Art Students League of New York and focused on abstraction with mixed media.

Today she works with acrylic and limited palettes in a signature style that blends traditional Chinese painting techniques with abstract overtones.
